The 1st South American Beach Games surfing competition came to an end with a great performance of the Brazilian Team, winning three out of four gold medals

The Surfing competition of the 1st South American Beach Games came to an end today, Sunday, December 13, in a true Olympic spirit. The winners’ flags waved at the podium and the gold medal country anthems were played. It was a great surfing day, with waves reaching six-foot with good conditions.

The Brazilian Team was the standout, winning the gold in the two divisions held today: Aloha Cup and Air Show, achieving with this, three out of the four gold medals in contention of the entire surfing competition.

Alejo Muniz (BRA), Rafael Pereira (VEN), Leandro Usuna (ARG), Analí Gómez (PER), Camila Cassia (BRA) and Gabriela Leite (BRA) entered the history books today, Friday, December 11, in Montoya beach, after winning the 1st South American Beach Games medals in the Surfing Competition.

It was a short but intense day 3, with only two finals being held in 3 foot, glassy right-handers.

Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina and Peru won the first medals in the Surfing event of the South American Beach Games inaugural edition. The Open men and Women division were defined.

Finalists were decided on a glorious second day of the surfing event of the 1st South American Beach Games. Good waves and awesome surfing performances along with the camaraderie of the six competing nationsshowed the world a fantastic Olympic spirit on the sands of Montoya beach.

The Olympic flag waved in Montoya Beach for the first day of the South American Beach Games Surfing event

The perfect 4 to 6 foot waves of Montoya beach along with the best surfers of the region made an amazing first day for the historic Surfing event of the 1st South American Beach Games. The 36 surfers from Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela surfed 20 high performance heats giving the best of their abilities looking forward to the medals.

The day started with great barreling rights and lefts, allowing the surfers to reach excellent scores. ISA Junior World Champion, Jadson André (BRA) set the standard, posting the highest combined score of the day, 16.17, and the highest single wave score, 9.00. His fellow countryman, Alejo Muniz, also an ISA World Junior Champion was another standout, showing great display of power surfing, scored a high 15.50 in his Main Event Round 2 match-up.
